Biographical
Bob has mediated and arbitrated thousands of cases since 1979. He has extensive experience resolving death and catastrophic loss claims, medical malpractice, complex commercial and real estate transactions, construction disputes and employment issues. He also has experience in antitrust, banking, civil rights, class actions, environmental, estates, finance, healthcare, insurance coverage, intellectual property, partnership, product liability, professional malpractice, securities, software and sports. Bob has served on the panel of mediators for the Court of Arbitration for Sports which administers cases for the Olympics and other international sporting events since 1998. For many years, he was a salary arbitrator for Major League Baseball and a grievance arbitrator for the National Football League. He served as an independent hearing officer for the United States Senate Select Committee on Ethics for 5 years.
Bob was named in 2022 Editor-in-Chief of Elkouri and Elkouri, How Arbitration Works, Bloomberg/BNA to update this seminal work on labor arbitration.
In 2014, and 2017 Best Lawyers named Bob Creo 'Mediator of the Year' and in 2021 Arbitration Lawyer of the year for the Pittsburgh area.
Bob is retiring in 2023 to Delray Beach Florida and generally limiting his practice to serving as a labor arbitrator with availability on an ad hoc basis for other select assignments.

Education
Bob received his B.A. in 1974 from Brandeis University and his J.D. in 1977 from Washington University School of Law.
Since 2003, Bob has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law. He served as an Adjunct Professor at Duquesne University School of Law from 1991 to 2004. Bob has published extensively including a 1,600 page treatise entitled Alternative Dispute Resolution: Law Procedure and Commentary for the Pennsylvania Practitioner, the Federal Arbitration Advocate’s Handbook, and numerous articles. He frequently presents at Bar Association meetings, ADR conferences and other seminars. He has taught and presented on ADR locally, nationally and internationally for over three decades.
Memberships & Affiliations
Bob was a co-founder of the International Academy of Mediators, Mediators Beyond Borders and Master Mediator Institute. He has been a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators since 1986. He is on the roster of neutrals for many organizations and court programs, including the American Arbitration Association, the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the National Mediation Board and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation. He is active in numerous professional societies.
In 2014 and 2017, Best Lawyers named Bob Creo 'Mediator of the Year' an for Arbitration in 2021 for the Pittsburgh area .
